As for foodies, a Mexican cooking class is a must for sharing a lovely moment while delving into the country’s gastronomy. We loved the Cookly class, which allowed us to learn how to prepare a host of delicious dishes and take the recipes back home with us to recreate them.
Continue the adventure at Chichén Itzá, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, where the Pyramid of Kukulcán testifies to the grandeur of the Mayan civilization and the ancient rituals that took place there. You can’t help but be impressed by this temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, built in harmony with the solar cycle. At each equinox, you can even see a serpent’s shadow undulating along its steps, a symbol of the connection between the Maya and the stars. Right next door, the Ik Kil cenote also invites you to swim in a mystical setting, surrounded by hanging vines.
Then, in Mérida, Yucatán’s capital, you’ll be charmed by its colonial architecture, colorful streets, and lively atmosphere. Stroll through its bucolic neighborhoods, passing by Plaza Grande, Mérida Cathedral, and visiting the Palacio Cantón Museum, a true treasure trove of history and elegance.

2. Isle of Skye, Highlands, Scotland
With its legendary medieval castles and endless lush mountains, a honeymoon in the Scottish Highlands is ideal for history buffs and outdoor enthusiasts. Start your journey in Portree, a charming fishing village where you’ll find pretty, colorful houses along the waterfront.
Then, to explore the region’s treasures, we suggest renting a car and touring the Isle of Skye. Along the way, you’ll come across the famous Old Man of Storr rock formation, the magical Fairy Pools waterfalls where the bravest can take a dip, Kilt Rock, an impressive natural landmark, and the Quiraing, a hike offering breathtaking panoramas. During your road trip, you’ll also encounter many Highland cows, or “hairy coos” as the locals say, and some places will allow you to pet or feed them.

To learn more about the history of Scottish clans, including Clan MacLeod, we recommend a visit to Dunvegan Castle, the oldest continuously inhabited castle in Scotland. There, you can also admire the magnificent gardens surrounding the property and even take boat tours to see seal colonies.
To complete your Skye adventure, we suggest a visit to Neist Point Lighthouse, one of the island’s most famous spots for its incredible sea views, but especially for whale and dolphin watching. In terms of accommodation, the Isle of Skye boasts a variety of beautiful inns and hotels, such as the Cuillin Hills Hotel in Portree. For a truly romantic experience and a complete immersion in the region’s past, book a night at the Inverlochy Castle Hotel, a 19th-century hotel near the famous Fort William.
3. Okinawa, Japan
If you dream of white-sand beaches and crystal-clear waters, Okinawa Prefecture is the perfect place for a romantic honeymoon. Comprising approximately 160 islands, Okinawa Prefecture is nicknamed “the Hawaii of Japan” due to its tropical atmosphere. Throughout the archipelago, you can go diving to explore coral reefs or go whale watching.

However, Okinawa is much more than its beaches. On its main island of the same name, you can visit several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Shurijo Castle. Having burned down at least five times throughout its history, most recently in 2019, a visit to this castle located in the city of Naha will allow you to learn more about the history surrounding the Ryukyu Kingdom, which lasted nearly 450 years before joining Okinawa.
Staying in the Okinawa archipelago, you’ll find several magnificent seaside resorts, such as the Hotel Monterey Okinawa Spa & Resort, as well as other elegant hotels like the Hoshinoya Okinawa, where you can truly relax. 4. Golden Circle, Iceland
If you’re looking for more adventure, Iceland is a prime destination for an unforgettable honeymoon surrounded by extraordinary natural landscapes. To explore the land of fire and ice, we suggest renting a car from Reykjavik and following the Golden Circle route. Open year-round, Iceland’s most famous scenic drive will allow you to admire, among other things, Gullfoss Falls, geysers, and Thingvellir National Park.
Depending on your itinerary, this route can take between 1 and 3 days. If you have more time, you can continue your journey by taking Route One, which completely encircles the island. It’s generally recommended to allow 7 days to complete the Ring Road. Along the way, you’ll pass other impressive waterfalls like Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss, as well as glaciers and the famous Diamond Beach in the south of the island. If you decide to visit Iceland between May and August, you’ll also be able to spot the famous puffins and enjoy the almost 24-hour sunshine, known as the midnight sun.
