9. Japan
A land of both timeless traditions and futuristic innovations, Japan will certainly remain at the top of the must-see destinations in 2026. With such an efficient train network, it will be a transport of choice to cross the country and see as much as possible during your trip to Japan.
If you prefer white sand beaches, Okinawa Prefecture is the perfect place to soak up the sun and swim in its crystal-clear waters. Located in southern Japan and comprising around fifty inhabited islands, Okinawa’s tropical atmosphere has earned it the nickname “the Hawaii of Japan.” There, you can go scuba diving among vibrant coral reefs and even whale watching if you visit during the first few months of the year.

10.Tromsø, Norway
Located north of the Arctic Circle, Tromsø is a dream destination for travelers and photographers seeking unique experiences, tranquility, and spectacular landscapes. Considered the capital of the Arctic, Tromsø is one of the best places in the world to observe the Northern Lights, thanks to its polar nights (generally from late November to mid-January) which create near-total darkness with blue hour periods ideal for watching the aurora borealis dance across the sky.

But Tromsø is more than just the Northern Lights. It’s a place to experience the Arctic actively, with dog sledding or snowmobiling excursions, snowshoeing trips, or whale-watching cruises in the frozen fjords. Despite its wild and sometimes lunar landscape, the city maintains a warm atmosphere with its cozy cafes, local microbreweries, and a Nordic culinary scene focused on seafood.
